Uber has today announced a completely refurbished app for its driver partners, which it says has been made “for and with drivers”. Uber says that the new app is aimed at providing a simpler and more personalized experience. In India, the app is currently available to select driver partners in Kochi and courier partners in Chennai. Uber says it will be rolled out in a phased manner to driver and delivery partners across the country over the coming months.

Uber says that over a hundred of its driver partners from Bengaluru were part of the global beta launch of the new app. “Our teams spent time on-ground, interacting with partners through group sessions, ride alongs and in person meetings to gather inputs. Every piece of their feedback was important and it was incorporated into building an app that meets their needs, every moment of their journey,” said, Pradeep Parameswaran, Head of Central Operations, Uber India & SA.

The new app comes with a handful of new features and changes, and the most prominent ones include a dedicated status bar in the app, earnings tracker and driver app basics, among other things. Here’s taking a quick look at the key features of the app.

Earnings tracker is a new real-time feature which allows drivers to know how much they earned on their last trip, and makes it easy to track progress toward their goals. Earlier there was a lot more calculation involved in finding this out, however, with the feature it will all be in one place now. Additionally, in the new app, drivers will now be able to see notifications about upcoming earning opportunities, feedback from their riders, and information about their account.

Next is the status bar, which provides real-time updates on market conditions around them and opportunities for more trips nearby. When a driver taps an opportunity, the app will provide optional navigation to the recommended area.

The new app also comes with a separate Driver Profile, which essentially showcases what they do outside of Uber, and allows riders to learn more about their driver and find new ways to connect.

Finally, the app also has a comprehensive guide called Driver App Basics, to help a new driver partner get started with Uber. The feature, however, will only be available to drivers in the coming months.
